PowerLink™ is a solid-state digital electronic system with only one moving part, the pintel that moves in the fuel injectors at each cylinder. From the precision casting of the controller housings to the CNC machining of speed sensor assembly parts to the laser welding of the solenoid coil enclosures, the system showcases the latest developments in manufacturing.

All of the electronic circuit boards are manufactured on an automated, environmentally clean chemical production line. Placement of electronic components is automatically registered then surface-mount wave-soldered to the printed circuit board.

Featuring a unique control architecture, our PowerLink™ FADEC system provides a computer per engine cylinder for precise control of spark ignition and fuel injection firing events over the entire operating envelope. SINGLE-LEVER CONTROL is the result, so the pilot only needs to think the throttle setting. Carburetor heat, mixture, and priming are eliminated, and even prop controls can be eliminated. Engine operation is smooth, optimal, and closed-loop self regulating.

Waste spark ignition is included in FADEC, which keeps plugs cleaner longer. Computers control the charging of individual spark coils to provide hot, high-energy sparks throughout engine operation. IGNITION TIMING is varied by the computer to ensure easy starting and maximum rated engine power availability whether in takeoff, roll, climb, or economy cruise conditions.

In dynamic engine operation, environmental conditions and component performance change. AUTOMATIC SELF-CALIBRATION is included in PowerLink™ FADEC in which computers automatically and continually correct for changes in critical measures such as temperature, fuel pressure, and input voltage. In addition, computers always find the best operating point for fuel economy and power.

Our advanced design includes SEQUENTIAL PORT FUEL INJECTION at each engine cylinder. Each fuel injector is solenoid operated under precise computer control, to ensure correct mixture for each firing event under all operating conditions. The amount of metered fuel matches the cylinder air charge, whether operating at best power or best economy conditions. Guesswork in setting fuel-air mixture is a thing of the past.

PowerLink™ FADEC utilizes an array of engine data in calculating the correct spark timing and fuel mixture. Data include cylinder head and exhaust gas temperatures, speed, camshaft position, fuel and manifold pressure, and air temperature. For each ignition event, DENSITY ALTITUDE COMPENSATION is included based on the current manifold temperature, pressure, and engine speed.

We've taken the guesswork out of engine operation, maintenance, and diagnostics. PowerLink™ FADEC provides an ENGINE DIAGNOSTIC PORT so you can download vital engine data onto a hand-held terminal or laptop computer. With our diagnostic software package, detailed analysis of engine performance is available for use in troubleshooting, maintenance, and determining performance trends.

A DIGITAL, CLOSED-LOOP ENGINE CONTROL SYSTEM provides individual cylinder control, peak torque ignition timing, sequential fuel injection, cylinder temperature control, automatic self-calibration, annunciation of health status, and serial engine performance data.
